LIC AAO Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2021

LIC is the largest life insurance company in India. It has its offices across the nation and always requires manpower for its ever-expanding insurance business. To maintain the momentum of the business and creating valuable products through the customer feedback channels, LIC recruits the Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) through the LIC AAO exam every year.

Phase I Preliminary Examination

Preliminary Examination is an objective based test which will be conducted online. This test is categorized in three sections as follows:

Phase II Main Examination

Main Examination is an objective as well as descriptive based test. Objective Questions will be of 300 marks whereas subjective Question will be of 25 marks. Since this will also be conducted online, the candidate is required to answer descriptive test by typing on the computer. This test is categorized in five sections as follows:

Phase III Interview

On the basis of marks obtained in Main Examination, candidates will be shortlisted for the next tier which is Interview. Maximum Interview marks are 60 and qualifying marks for EWS, Unreserved, OBC and PwBD candidates are 30. Qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates are 27. Candidates who obtain less than 8 qualifying marks in interview shall not be considered for further process of recruitment. The number of candidates to be called for interview will be about three times the number of vacancies to be filled in subject to availability of successful candidates in the Main examination and will be as per their ranking in their respective category. The aggregate of marks obtained in Main examination and interview will be considered Final Merit List.

Criteria for Evaluation

  1. Candidate MUST obtain minimum qualifying marks in each Section separately and should also obtain minimum marks in the aggregate to qualify for the examinations (Preliminary and Main) and the interview.
  2. Descriptive paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who qualify in the objective part of Mains examination.
  3. English Language test is of qualifying nature and marks in English Language will not be counted for ranking.
  4. The scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equipercentile equating method.
